What is Orgonite?
Orgonite is extremely popular as a spiritual healing tool and also as protection against electromagnetic pollution (EMF). These subtle energy tools interact and transform Orgone or life energy.
Orgonite is a combination of crystal and metal in resin, and it is based on Wilhelm Reich’s scientific research culminating in the existence of what he termed orgone energy. Torsion field and zero point energy has evolved out of Reich’s research.
- The word orgonite comes from “orgone”, the name given by Wilhelm Reich to vital energy found everywhere in nature. It is life energy, also called Ch’i, Prana, and Aether. This vital energy exists, in a natural way, under many different forms. It can be neutral (OR=orgone), positive (POR=positive orgone energy) or negative (DOR = deadly orgone energy). When positive, it enables living organisms to exist in a healthy state. Reich did a lot of research on the properties and behaviors of this energy. He built an orgone accumulator out of alternate layers of metal and organic material. He also observed that OR was able to neutralize nuclear radiation.*

- Wilhelm Reich was a Viennese psychiatrist who developed a system of psychoanalysis that concentrated on overall character structure rather than on individual neurotic symptoms.
- Through his study of human behaviour, the instinctual physiological or psychic energy associated with sexual urges, Reich came to believe in the existence of an energetic life force that he termed “orgone energy,” which was produced by “bions,” microscopic orgone units or energy vesicles in a state of transition between the nonliving and the living.
- Reich’s method was to place different layers of organic and inorganic materials in boxes that people could sit in. Orgone Energy helps battle the electromagnetic frequencies in the air, he claimed.

What is Orgone?
- Orgone is a pseudoscientific spiritual concept variously described as an esoteric energy or hypothetical universal life force.
- Orgone was seen as a massless, omnipresent substance, similar to luminiferous aether, but more closely associated with living energy than with inert matter. It could allegedly coalesce to create organization on all scales, from the smallest microscopic units—called “bions” in orgone theory—to macroscopic structures like organisms, clouds, or even galaxies.
Orgone energy is similar to what the ancients have called prana, chi, or universal energy. Though it was new to western science when he proposed it in the 1930s, orgone can trace its roots to the Kundalini energy of ancient India or the Qi of traditional Chinese medicine.
Why was Orgonite banned?
- In 1940, Reich devised a six-sided box for a person to sit in. Its alternating layers of organic and metallic material would, he said, attract the energy and radiate it to the box’s center. The human sitting in the box, added Reich, would absorb the energy, with a resultant healing effect. Reich called the box the “orgone accumulator.”
- After publishing the results of his research, he was forced to flee from Norway and moved to the United States where he continued his research. His claims brought him into conflict with the FDA who took an injunction out to stop his work.
- Wilhelm Reich was arrested and put on trial after he was charged with contempt in 1956 for having violated the injunction, Reich was sentenced to two years imprisonment, and that summer over six tons of his publications were burned by order of the court and his equipment destroyed. He died in prison of heart failure just over a year later, days before he was due to apply for parole.
What is Orgonite used for?
The primary function of orgonite is to convert negative orgone energy into positive orgone energy. While there are many orgonite vendors offering a wide range of items, there must be a 50/50 mix of resin and metal, with a quartz crystal contained in the mix, for the item to be considered orgonite.
Conclusion
Orgone energy, and orgonite’s effect on it can’t be reliably scientifically measured as yet. This results in mainstream science and academia largely ignoring or not acknowledging it.
Many people say it has helped them and swear by it’s properties and use it for all manner of ailments, for meditation and so much more. It is beautiful to look at so makes a wonderful gift and is up to the individual to decide whether it helps them or not.
